It seems painfully obvious to me, that many of the specialisation bonuses of 1.8 have not been thought through.
For example, the Amarr scout is in desperate need of a more useful bonus, and yet one of the most scouty things you can do is placed in the hands of his logi brother. Uplink deployment is something FAR more suited to a scout suit than a logi.
There is a similar disparity for the Gallente. The logi is getting a scanner bonus. It is better at detecting enemies. This is literally what a scout does.
I have other, minor gripes too. I think the general Commando bonus (reload speed) and the general Assault bonus (PG/CPU reduction) would be better off swapped.
Commandos, at least IMO, are to light weapons what logis are to equipment. For them, the focus is less on the suit and more on the weapon. They're going to be using far more fitting space with two L slots, and are less likely to benefit from an improved reload speed when they can just switch to another light weapon. Assaults on the other hand, always find themselves in need of a rapid reload. It's pretty much their bread & butter to jump right into the thick of it.
Finally there are the race specific Assault bonuses. This objection has proven to be more divisive in the past, but I don't like what the weapon-specific assault bonuses mean for diversity in the game.
The most used frame size in the game is the medium suit. It's the most prone to FOTM abuse, and the most generic role in the game. Encouraging players to be even less diverse in their weapons choice, or to give up a bonus in order to play the style of assault they'd like, is not the way to make a game based on customisation. And don't give me that "this is how it works in EVE crap". This isn't EVE, and the presence of a bad idea in one game is not grounds for putting it in another. These bonuses just encourage more Logissaults.
These suits should have a bonus to assaulting. Shield bonuses and clip size were great. They played to the strengths of those suits without restricting your customisation options. The only debate IMO is how powerful those bonuses should be.
But anyway, that's my rambling over. Share your thoughts.
